We continue the series considering the best wedding songs from the list of musical greats. This week we look at the best Elton John wedding songs. Elton may be #4 on this list in terms of certified units of albums, singles, downloads, and videos sold in his career. But in terms of monthly visitors to Spotify, he actually exceeds The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and Elvis.
Elton John songs can rock, like Saturday Night’s Alright for Fightin’, Crocodile Rock, and Pinball Wizard (writing credits to the Who’s Peter Townshend). But he really shines when it comes to ballads.
Some of his songs which evoke themes of love may not necessarily be a good fit for your wedding, simply because the lyrics may be too autobiographical.
For example, his great song “Tiny Dancer” evokes strong love themes when Elton sings:
“Hold me closer, Tiny Dancer,
Count the headlight on the highway,
Lay me down in sheets of linen,
You had a busy day today.”
If your sweetheart is a plus size with two left feet when it comes to the dance floor, the song may not be a good fit for your affair.

On the other hand, the lyrics for the hit song from the Lion King, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” offers up fairly universal lyrics. Everyone knows it, which instantly unites your entire celebration. It’s one of many great choices from Elton John.

Less known is a delightful love song from his “Captain Fantastic” album, titled, “We All Fall In Love Sometimes.” Take a listen to Coldplay’s Chris Martin’s version of it:
Ultimately, our first pic for the best of Elton John wedding songs is his classic hit, “Your Song” (top of page). Everyone knows Bernie Taupin’s lyrics to the song and will want to join in and sing along:
“And you can tell everybody
This is your song,
It may be quite simple, but
Now that it’s done,
I hope you don’t mind,
I hope you don’t mind,
That I put down in words,
How wonderful life is
While you’re in the world.”
Nice. Yes, we think “Your Song” is Elton John’s ultimate wedding song.
